Good morning beautiful! Let’s talk about you and your morning self care routine. The way you start your day matters! Yep, it’s true. Daily routines matter, so let’s start off on the right foot. Here are 3 tips for your morning routine:

Make Your Bed!

One of the first steps in a mindful morning routine is to wake up and make your bed. An unmade bed can be what you’re missing in your daily routine.
Studies have shown that those that make their bed (no need to actually know how to make a bed— in my opinion, there’s no right way) in the morning are more productive in their day.
We also know that bed making is another way to reduce stress. Can you believe it?! If there’s one thing we need in this crazy world, it’s definitely stress reduction.
So, start with this one small thing. No deep cleaning necessary (though it’s not discouraged), no need to search for more bedroom cleaning hacks. This is a seemingly small change that can bring big changes to your life! Do I sound dramatic? Maybe a little.
But really, it’s as if something happens in your brain when you make your bed. A switch is flipped. You suddenly feel like you can conquer anything. Set your mind right first thing in the morning and you signal to your brain that you can do so much more in the day!

Open the blinds to let the light in.

I can’t stress this enough, the rising sun and the amazing light it brings can be so enlightening. Pun intended, most definitely. The sun is a powerful source of energy, we’d be remiss if we didn’t soak it up.
When the body gets Vitamin D from the sun, it can then keep your bones, teeth, and muscles healthy. When we don’t have enough Vitamin D, we can begin to experience anxiousness, depression, fatigue, and sore muscles and joints. All not good side effects, if you ask me!
Opening up the curtains and blinds in your home is one of the simplest things you can do to welcome more happy vibes into your life daily, and it’s completely free!
So be the sun goddess you are and soak up those sun rays every chance you can. A home filled with sun light is an environment you can thrive in, not just survive.

Take a few deep breaths.

Last but certainly not least, breathe. This goes by many names, but is essentially it’s conscious discipline breathing. You’ll want to take a few deep breaths before you get into the hustle and bustle of your busy day.
Take a moment to close your eyes, and take those deep breathes! Some benefits of deep breathing include: decreased stress, increased calm, improved immunity, lower blood pressure, and overall mood.
You may even find that a meditation is beneficial to you. I like to use the Calm app for guided meditations, and they’ve been perfect for me! However, this isn’t necessary. Even just 30 seconds can be enough to calm your body and mind before daily stressors come into play.
And that’s it! Do these 3 things to start improving your routines daily, and little by little you’ll be able to see differences in your mood and productivity. You are good enough, you are special, you are loved. Remember that! And of course, your daily routines matter. You’ve got this.
